Role: Home Teaching and Educational Assistant/Mentor and Activity Organiser

Salary: £45,000 – £65,000 gross per annum (Depending on qualifications, skills and previous experience)

We are looking for an experienced, energetic and domestic or school experienced Home Teaching and Educational Asst/Mentor and Activity Organiser for a private family based in St Johns Wood, North West London.

You will be working for a British couple jointly with the parents and their two children, aged 13 and 17 years old. The Home Teaching and Educational Asst/Mentor and Activity Organiser will be responsible for the care and wellbeing of the children and supporting them with their education.  You will be required to travel with the family to France, from time to time so it is essential that you are travel friendly.

The days and hours of work are as follows until July 8th, 8.30am – 5.30pm Monday – Friday. Post July 8th, 10am – 6pm (or holiday travel hours) Monday – Friday. Post September 2nd, 2pm – 7.30pm Monday – Friday plus 2/3 hours (total) occasionally on Saturdays.

You will be joining an established team of professional domestic staff, including a Chef and two full-time Housekeepers, drivers and security staff.

The salary offered for the position will be between £45,000 and £65,000 gross per annum depending on the candidate’s previous experience, qualifications and skills.

Separate accommodation locally can be arranged for the right candidate should it be required.

The ideal candidate must be fluent in English language and will have 2+ years teaching/tutoring experience.

  • Occasionally accompanying the children to school and activities
  • Undertaking appropriate outdoor activities, educational and creative
  • Scheduling and coordinating the children’s activities
  • Implementing daily routines with the parents as a team
  • Assisting with homework and organisation
  • Ensuring the children follow a routine that allows for homework and educational activities
  • Maintaining manners, etiquette and right code of conduct
  • Foster and assist in the children’s educational, social and creative development
  • Understand the school syllabus and requirements that each child needs to meet
  • Prepare the children for exams and school assessments
  • Managing the children’s education and communication with schools
  • Helping develop the children’s independence
  • Monitor homework given by the school and other professionals
  • Organising tutors for children where needed
  • Supporting the educational needs of the children in line with the school syllabus
  • Assisting in improving the general understanding of the children across a range of topics at GCSE and at A Level Math’s, Economics and French
  • Help prepare the children for exams and school assessments by liaising with the other tutors
  • Scheduling and accompanying the children to medical appointments if needed
  • Liaising with the chef in order for him to prepare healthy meals and snacks
  • Supervising the children’s mealtimes attendance
  • Shopping for the children’s requirements when needed
  • Diary Management
  • Responding to emails
  • Scheduling and managing home maintenance and repair work
  • Liaising with office and household staff

To be considered for this role you must;

  • Be eligible to work in the UK
  • Have excellent contactable references
  • Have a valid passport
  • Have 2+ years experience working as a Tutor/Teacher
  • Possess (or be willing to get) an up to date DBS check
