We are seeking a confident, experienced Nanny to join a relaxed yet structured family based in Santa Monica.
This is a long-term role caring primarily for two young children, with a newborn joining the family shortly. A Maternity Nurse will support the baby during the initial months, allowing the Nanny to focus on the older children while working as part of a wider childcare team.
You will be responsible for supporting the children’s daily routines, emotional wellbeing, and independence. The role involves school and activity coordination, supporting morning and afternoon transitions, preparing simple meals for the children, encouraging outdoor play and physical activity, and maintaining clear, consistent boundaries. The children enjoy an active lifestyle including swimming, sports, and imaginative play, and thrive with a balance of freedom, structure, and calm guidance.
This role would suit a self-assured, emotionally intelligent Nanny who is confident managing toddlers and preschoolers without becoming flustered. The ideal candidate will be calm, kind, firm when needed, and naturally playful, with a good sense of humour and an ability to engage quickly with children. A respectful, child-led approach is valued, alongside the confidence to establish routines, support positive behaviour, and model consistency rather than relying on constant correction.
The family employ a full-time housekeeper, so no heavy cleaning is required; however, a team-player mentality is essential. Both parents are hands-on and collaborative, and value open communication, mutual respect, and a sense of camaraderie within the household.
The position can be offered on a live-in basis, with accommodation provided in a separate two-bedroom guest house on the property, or live-out if preferred. The family also spend extended time each year in another coastal location, where the children attend camps and activities, and the Nanny would be expected to travel with them.
A confident driver is required. Candidates must already hold the right to work in the US or be in the process of securing appropriate work authorisation.
