Role: Groundskeeper / Estate Maintenance Operative
Location: Surrey (live-in or live-out)
Salary: £35,000–£40,000 gross per annum DOE
Schedule: 5 days per week (2 consecutive days off) with flexibility required

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Groundskeeper / Landscaper / Estate Maintenance Operative to join the team on a substantial private estate in Surrey
Working alongside an established estate team, you will be responsible for maintaining the grounds, gardens and outdoor facilities to an exceptional standard, ensuring the estate is presented impeccably throughout the year. This is a varied, hands-on role requiring excellent practical skills, discretion and a proactive approach
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain lawns, hedges, trees, pathways, landscaped gardens and estate grounds to the highest standard.
- Operate, service and maintain professional grounds maintenance equipment.
- Carry out general estate maintenance, minor repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, ponds, fountains, swimming pool and jacuzzi areas.
- Maintain fencing, gates, outdoor furniture, workshops, storage areas and estate infrastructure.
- Carry out seasonal duties including hedge cutting, reseeding, mulching, leaf clearance, strimming and planting support.
- Maintain driveways, walking paths, tennis court surrounds and other external areas.
- Coordinate with contractors including tree surgeons and specialist maintenance providers.
- Assist with the upkeep of equestrian areas and estate facilities as required.
- Support the care of estate animals.
- Ensure all equipment, workshops and storage areas remain clean, organised and safe.
- Report maintenance issues promptly and uphold the highest standards of health, safety and confidentiality.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience as a Groundskeeper, Estate Worker, Landscaper or Gardener on a large private estate or similar environment.
- Strong practical maintenance skills with experience operating professional groundskeeping machinery.
- Good knowledge of lawn care, irrigation systems, seasonal planting and estate maintenance.
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors throughout the year.
- Comfortable working around animals and supporting their care when required.
- Excellent communication, strong attention to detail and a proactive, reliable approach.
- Full UK driving licence and the legal right to work in the UK.
