We are seeking an experienced, highly organised and hands-on Live-in or (local) Live-out House Manager for a beautifully renovated country manor in Oxfordshire
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a newly established family home and help shape how it operates from the outset. The property has been exceptionally considered, with a strong emphasis on design, art, nature, creativity, health and sustainability, so we are looking for someone with excellent operational skills alongside a genuine eye for aesthetics and detail
The family primarily use the property at weekends, with their main residence in London. Initially, the House Manager will play a key role in setting up the household: managing the move-in process, organising possessions and purchases, establishing household manuals and inventories, creating maintenance schedules and putting robust systems in place. As the household develops, you will help recruit and manage a small team and take responsibility for its smooth day-to-day operation
The Role
You will act as the main point of contact for the principals regarding the property, working closely with the Director of People & Properties, family office and existing garden team
Responsibilities will include household staff management and rotas; contractors, suppliers and maintenance; household budgets, invoices and expenditure; inventories and purchasing; household manuals and operational systems; wardrobe oversight and travel packing; care and coordination of artworks and design objects; and ensuring the house is beautifully presented and fully prepared for the family and their guests
This is very much a hands-on House Manager position. The family favour a lean, collaborative team, so you should be equally comfortable managing a spreadsheet or contractor as stepping in alongside the household team when required
Candidate
We are looking for someone with strong private household experience who is:
· Exceptionally organised, practical and financially confident
· Experienced managing household staff, contractors and suppliers
· Hands-on, service-oriented and comfortable working as part of a small team
· Highly presentable, discreet and confident communicating with principals
· Naturally interested in interiors, art, design and beautiful, well-sourced products
· Comfortable establishing systems, manuals, inventories and budgets from scratch
· Environmentally conscious, with an appreciation for organic and sustainable living
· Comfortable with rural estate life and potentially animals in the future
· Tech-confident across standard household and office systems
· A confident driver with a full, clean driving licence
